“Your Father in heaven . . . makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the righteous and on the unrighteous. . . . Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect” (Matthew 5:45,48)
“In him was life, and the life was the light of men . . . the true Light, which lights every man that comes into the world” (John 1:4,9).
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life” (John 8:12).
“Very truly, I tell you, anyone who hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life, and does not come under judgment, but has passed from death to life” (John 5:24).
This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light and in him there is no darkness at all . . . if we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another (I John 1:5,7).
“You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:14-16).
