The Mother of God

Although most Protestants have had little exposure to the veneration of the Virgin Mary as practiced by Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Christians, hymns and prayers to the Blessed Theotokos date back to the 3rd or 4th century and continue to be recited by millions of faithful Christians around the world.

Hail Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among
women, and blessed is the
fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners, now and
at the hour of our death.

Amen.

O Theotokos and Virgin,
rejoice, Mary full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.

Blessed art thou among
women, and blessed is
the Fruit of thy womb,
for thou hast borne
the Saviour of our souls.
